Car Hire and Road Travel

Many travellers prefer renting a car to explore Bath's outlying regions. Commuting in and out of the city is done by taking the M3, M4, or M5 which are all connected to the major cities in England like London and Bristol. The roads can become congested during peak hours. Some streets in the center of the city are reserved for public utility vehicles such as taxis and buses.

Having a car while at Bath University is actually more of an inconvenience than a benefit because it is not needed. Because the campus is so small, most students simply walk along the Parade.

Car Parking

Most of the streets in Bath allow parking right on the curb. The city also has several pay-parking lots located near spas, malls, and other tourist attractions.

However, parking inside the university is often prohibited. The campus is too small to allow students to park their cars in the campus.

Trains and Rail Travel

The Bath Spa Train Station in Dorchester Street is the only train station in Bath. Trains travel regularly to Bristol, London, and other nearby important cities. Advanced bookings for tickets can be done, if necessary. The trip from Bath to Bristol by train takes less than half an hour, while the trip to London takes about 90 minutes.

Travel by Bus and Coach Travel

Traveline and Badgerline are the main bus lines that operate in the city. Bus stops are located on almost every street corner, so getting a bus to travel around the city is very easy. Buses to as far as Glastonbury are also available.
